There’s cause for celebration this month as onefinestay turns three. Like a jubilant toddler of the same age, we’ve grown up very fast and we celebrated last night by eating far too much cake. But unlike your average three year old we managed some bubbles, beer and bourbon too.

The evening began as an unusually sophisticated soiree, kindly hosted by Foto8 Gallery. Being ‘all grown up’ now, we attended a private view of onefinestay: A Retrospective, where some eyes became teary whilst glancing back at times gone by on the giant timeline. The Alice in Wonderland tea party, Buster the Bear and Demetrios’s still life of a diet coke can all made an appearance, while anecdotes from the early days fluttered nostalgically around the room.

But, not inclined towards being overly profound for too long, we turned our attention to the important matter of the cake – and what a magnificent cake it was.

Even after all three flavours of sponge hidden within had been devoured, the party had to go on. So we crossed over the road to bike shop/bar Look Mum No Hands! to pull some serious shapes until the wee hours.
