Scent is so evocative – it can take us back to childhood in a second. With Christmas approaching, we got in touch with the world-famous perfumer Jo Malone to harness her gift for transforming feelings into fragrances. Jo’s latest venture, Jo Loves, does just that – creating beautiful and unexpected fragrances in the home, inspired by moments and memories.
“I love to scent the whole house at Christmas and one of the simplest ways to do this is to scatter fresh orange peel, rosemary sprigs, cinnamon sticks and star anise together on a baking tray, mist everything with a little bit of water and pop into a warm oven. As the ingredients get hot, bursts of fresh, citrus steam laced with aromatic herbs and spices fills the air which makes the house smell incredible and instantly festive, whilst also helping to mask cooking smells. It’s such a quick and easy thing to do which you can adapt according to whatever ingredients you have in your kitchen.”
