Thanksgiving at onefinestay

Delicious food, a break from busyness, and precious time with family and friends—not forgetting bold sweaters of course. That’s right, Thanksgiving is upon us. This week, the Brand Marketing team gathered together to celebrate and share a meal. Lucky for us, a onefinestay home not far from our Angel office offered the ideal setting.

We were greeted by the delicious aroma of roast turkey as we arrived at Duncan Terrace. The long wooden dining table, decorated with flowers, miniature pumpkins and fairy lights, was the heart of the home for the day. For many of us, this was our first Thanksgiving, and the team was gleaming with excitement.

Executive Chef and Founder of the Pickled Fork, Alex Motture, prepared the delicious Thanksgiving meal:

roast turkey with chestnut stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce

warm salad of winter squash, celeriac & parsnips

buttered green beans with crushed almonds

creamed leeks & spinach

rosemary & garlic roast potatoes

creamy mashed potatoes

pickled red cabbage

sprouts with smoked bacon & parsley

cherry pie

pumpkin pie

At onefinestay we have plenty to be thankful for. We’re thankful to be operating in four of our favourite cities, with a team that works tirelessly day in, day out. We’re thankful for our guests who travel to our cities, and our community of members who share their homes through onefinestay. We wouldn’t be here without them.

Between the main course and dessert, and over a glass of wine, we went around the table talking about what we were each thankful for:

Miranda Cresswell, Director of Brand Marketing. This year I’m thankful for the health and wellbeing of family and friends, and for the talents and energy of our onefinestay team.

Tamara Odeh This year I’m thankful that I live in the same city as my sister for the first time in 15 years. The last time we lived together was in Jordan, and since then I’ve lived in Madrid and Paris before moving to London this year. I now also get to see my one-year-old nephew all the time.

Karine Day I’m thankful that I’ll be going home to Montreal, Canada, to spend Christmas with my family.

Stephen Portlock I’ve never experienced Thanksgiving before, so this year I’m thankful that I get to finally see what it’s all about.

Eleonora Valle I’m thankful for a lot of things, but I think this quote sums it up. “Wear gratitude like a cloak and it will feed every corner of your life” – Rumi.

Sam Webb I’m thankful for having visited New York for the first time this year (thanks onefinestay!)

Meredith Bell 2015 has been a year of beginnings – including getting married to a wonderful man and starting an incredible new opportunity with the amazing team at onefinestay. I am thankful for beginnings.

Charlotte Wenman I am thankful for the health of all my family and friends.

Mie Kayser I’m thankful that I now live in London. I moved from Paris earlier this year and I’m really enjoying life in this new city.

Morena Oliveira I’m about to go travelling for six months, so I am thankful and excited for the months to come.

Isabel Warby My mother is actually from Maine, so my family celebrates Thanksgiving every year. This year, we are going to one of my favourite cities, Edinburgh, for a Thanksgiving weekend.

William Reed Last year was my first time celebrating Thanksgiving and it has quickly become my favourite holiday. This year, I am thankful that I now live in London and that I work with such a great group of talented people.

We wish each of our teams in London, New York, Paris and Los Angeles, our guests and our members a happy Thanksgiving.
