Setting the table is like setting the stage for an evening. Done right, a well-set table can create an intimate, warm atmosphere – the perfect backdrop for coming together with family and friends this holiday season. Our Art Director, Eleonora Valle, lends her expertise to setting a table for a Christmas get-together in Paris, London and Rome.
As with all things French, a sense of chicness is vital to this tablescape – extravagant and modern. It’s a sophisticated early-evening setting, with oysters and champagne. Oysters are a holiday tradition in Paris, so these are a must. Not only are they tasty, but they add a touch of indulgence.
Mix golds and silvers to evoke Parisian glamour – gold cutlery is unexpected and luxurious. Use gold-rimmed platters for the food, and select silver or gold ice buckets to chill the champagne and serve as practical but sophisticated centrepieces. Pine-cone garlands can also be placed around the table. And don’t forget the oysters and fresh baguettes!
