The exciting news of our Series B funding back in June made it quite a bit further than we had imagined. Our big announcement was reported not only in the UK and USA, but as far away as Beijing and Mexico – though it seems our message became somewhat muddled in the process of multiple translations.

According to a particularly entertaining translation of a Mexican report, onefinestay can be described as “a new difficulty of upscale accommodation”. We’re not denying that building the unhotel has been challenging, but it’s not something we tend to put on the label. Greg steps in to clarify that we offer an “unusual operation of homes”, and we rather like the following long-winded explanation too: “mixing a particular impression of a pleasing private home with a use that offers a preference and amenities of a high-end hotel.” Maybe we should add that one to the website? And, when we’re not being difficult with our accommodation we appear to dabble in other areas too, one of our side-projects being to  “redefine a knowledge of city transport.”

Unfortunately though, our guests “suffer vital like a local”, which sounds rather foreboding for the poor things, while the outlook for members seems fairly gloomy too: “hosts in London currently suffer a coherence of regulating their possess homes when in city.”

Greg, on the other hand, appears overly emotional at the announcement, saying “we are hugely vehement about a US launch and general expansion.” It seems to have all become a bit much for him.

And what of our new investors? Our success has helped “attract tip tier general investors, including heading tellurian try collateral organisation Canaan Partners”. They’ve hit the nail on the head there, as we have indeed managed to attract earth-inhabiting investors, however Warren Lee of Canaan Partners appears to have developed some extra-terrestrial ideas for onefinestay: “We share their faith that there will be an unhotel in each vital universe city, and demeanour brazen to ancillary their growth.”

And so, with “demeanour brazen” we turn to our “subsequent proviso of a enlargement”, ambitions set “on carrying an unhotel in each vital universe city.” Whoever knew we’d dreamed so big?
