Our home of the week is a magnificent townhouse just a pearl’s throw from Hyde Park. Although the hostess is American, it is well and truly a British spirit that oozes from every antique table and every lavishly upholstered chair at Trevor Square. The décor ranges from the traditional to the quirky, with our definite favourite being the dog general: a perfect mix of the two!

The drawing room on the first floor is perfect for taking afternoon tea and cakes surrounded by elegant watercolours in gilded frames. To keep up with correspondence from distant lands there is an ornate writing desk with views over the balcony to the avenue below, complete with the imprint of a lifetime of letters. On sunny afternoons head out to the walled garden for a spot of wiff waff (table tennis) and there’s a BBQ for alfresco dining. For those looking for more of the 21st century, fear not- this home may evoke a memory times gone by, but it is carefully blended with a generous helping of modern technology.

After you have wined and dined you can withdraw to sip port by the marble fireplace and talk long into the night. With six bedrooms, each as carefully decorated with unique attention to detail as the last, there is room for lords and ladies aplenty.  When you venture out of your manor, you will find you are in good company with the Harrods just around the corner, and the greenery of Hyde Park ripe for exploring.
