Last week, we introduced Modern Classic – the seamless blending of contemporary and traditional design. We’ve picked out a few onefinestay homes that do it best, playfully contrasting timeless period features with striking modern pieces.
A bright, avant-garde sofa highlights the corniced ceilings and wood panelling of Rue de Turbigo II, while in Caithness Road II, it’s a bold photograph of tower blocks that makes the vintage chest of drawers really stand out.
The careful use of different textures is vital: in Chalcot Crescent II, copper fittings add a traditional feel – as well as a little sparkle – to the dining room. Sometimes, the deftest of touches will do it, like the Regency cabinet in Edis Street III.
On the other hand, Bronson Avenue’s design is far bolder, with a daring colour scheme contrasting with the retro furnishings.
